By the time I made eight starts and three houses for the bottom border, the top was finished. It did not take long from restart to finish up to the top. Only thing I need to think is how I should quilt it. I am planning to hand quilt it so it will take longer to really finish this quilt.
Maybe I will work on something else and think about the quilt lines later.Speaking of something else, I made this block the other day. I might make sampler quilt by adding a few more blocks. What is the name of this pattern in English? Some says it is "Interlock square". When I search the pattern of this name, some different patterns show up. Regardless of what the name is, I just like it and I might embroider something in the center of this block for the sampler quilt. Oh this is about 7" square.
Here is something I restarted lately. I guess in the middle of the process, I made some mistakes and had to redo it. It's ok, no rush. It is just relaxing to work on this simple crochet.
It's been snowing for a few days and in fact today most schools around here have been closed. I have to go to downtown today and tomorrow to have medical interpreters training. I just don't like to drive in the snow. As far as this training, it is interesting to learn many medical terminology and anatomy of body parts. I learned some in school but never grasped it. This is just a temporary job for me but I know I will encounter some serious situation in the clinic or hospitals... Just stand by.

SLOL Updates
Slowly but surely, my SLOL blocks are progressing. Once I started making each block, it is just fun to work on it as the design of each block is just simple and cute to look at. Also I don't have to worry about "perfect" line or shape for this particular quilt, which make me feel better when I make some mistakes... This is beauty of "primitive" quilt, I believe.
When I follow the direction of the quilt, I sometimes encounter the different dimensions to match each block, so I add a few fillings or patches to meet the size. I noticed when looking around other quilters' SLOL quilt, theirs also have different fillings or patches here and there. It makes their quilt their own original one. Even Cheri's one looks different from the others.
Here are some pieces for the right outside border. In fact I have already finished both right and left and the top borders. I will post the new picture when I finish the bottom border. Eight stars and three houses are waiting for me to make.
I started thinking about how I should quilt this huge quilt. You know, I plan to hand quilt it so I have no idea as of yet.
Happy quilting!!

More Blocks and A New Quilt
I have made these blocks this past weekend. As the design of this quilt is simply primitive, I should not have to worry about precise size that much. That's why I love this type of quilt.
However, I still need to keep my skill to make "precise" quilt like this. I really wanted to make some classic quilt with "Civil War" theme fabrics, then I just put those blocks together the other day. It did not take long for me to make it although I hand pieced all blocks. Hope this won't be another UFO!!
I think this "Wool Crazy" book is getting hot among the quilters out there lately. I saw this post in Colleen's blog the other day and fell in love instantly. Then the book arrived in my house the other day!! It is worth to have such a nice and cute book like this regardless of whether you make something or not. Wool and embroidery are just nice combination for quilts.
I have had the other book (Small Endearments) for a while and have gone through pages sometimes to refer color balance and designs for my quilts. In fact I took one of the designs in the book for my "Civil War" eight point star quilt (see the above).
Well, that's all for today and I'll go back to my sewing room and make more mess!!
Happy quilting!
